![]() Whilst 2033 set the story and atmosphere last light adds a few great characters and has some familiar faces its nice to see. The story of last light was incomparably better than 2033 (though this could be in how they adapted the books perhaps 2033 only took the intro but having never read them I'll claim ignorance). It wasn't for me though.ĩh PlayedI played this game straight after playing metro 2033 so I'll compare the two quite a bit though there's no need to play 2033 it's all recapped when you need to know it for last lights story. I'm certain this game will appeal to many, possibly enough that if they encounter these same problems, they'll want to keep going regardless. I don't enjoy this game enough to pursue this any more. Secondly, over a dozen times Last Light would crash on startup, and while verifying the integrity of the game files fixed this for a few times, eventually I had to resort to uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and now even that doesn't fix it. This is fine, but the stealth is pretty half baked and boring, and there's a glitch about halfway through the game that completely eliminates your ability to knock out enemies rather than kill them. First of all, the morality system as I understand it (which will determine which ending you get) is partially reliant on how many enemies you kill. This game isn't exactly a buggy mess, but the bugs encountered are so egregious it made me quit the game mere hours before the finale. That about ends the good in Last Light to me. Chapters are short, pacing is all over the place, but the themes and characters are mostly good. The narrative is also compelling, if somewhat lacking in dynamism. The setting and narrative of Metro is truly captivating- crawling through ruined Underground tunnels where bullets are currency, stations are towns, and the Surface is a thrilling, dangerous risk is represented beautifully in Last Light Redux. I go back on forth on which metro game I like most.Ī good setting and interesting concept marred by poor performance and execution. Last sequence was grand, and the good ending really is one of the most rewarding good endings ever. Anna wasn't a very good character in LL and I thought her iconic rabbit comment was kinda funny but also just weird, but don't worry, she gets a massive arc in the sequel. I always let him live, the two musketeers deserved to be reunited. But the little one recognizing in the courtyard fight that deep down, Pavel didn't want to fight Artyom and made me wonder if being antagonistic was Pavel's way of coping with the situation. ![]() I was ready to finally take him down in the last fight after he was such a cocky asshat after stabbing you in the back. Pavel is a character I really loved and the more interesting villain in the game, and I love the dynamic he and Artyom shared. Korbut was a classic, boring villain, nothing really more to say to his character other than how terrifyingly manipulative he is. The rest of the story that follows was excellent. Artyom carries a burden in this game - he singlehandedly ended a race of evolved humans, and that guilt has driven him to try and make contact with any potential Dark Ones still living. To the point I have to knock it down a peg a bit for that. Stealth is even more viable - in fact, stealth is the ideal way to play this game. Gameplay/Combat is a little bit improved with a bit more weapons, but mechanics are the same. 22h 50m ProgressThe sequel to 2033! This game is a more than worthy sequel. ![]()
